MAST: Master theses in teacher education - developing school–university collaboration guidelines for profession-oriented master theses
In the MAST project we will work on master thesis, and one of the main tasks will be to develop, implement and evaluate models for school-university cooperation. Our aim is to strengthen the relevance of the teacher profession and the connection of the master thesis to the teacher student's teaching practice, and at the contribute to school development.

About the project
The aim of MAST is to make the master's thesis in teacher education practical and relevant across educational levels and subjects. A challenge with the master's thesis in teacher education so far has been little variation in method and partly low perceived relevance with regard to daily teaching in the classroom.
NOKUT (2024) therefore recommends allowing room for academic, empirical and methodological breadth, and that the work on the master's thesis should be able to contribute to future-oriented school development.
In MAST, we will look at different types of master's, from purely empirical assignments to assignments where students develop and test a resource or a teaching plan.
