Introduction
NTNU’s strategic research areas are intended to help realize NTNU’s strategy, Knowledge for a Better World. One way we contribute to this goal is by allocating projects and fellowships in areas that are strategically important to the NTNU Societal Security initiative. Below are the fellows who are directly funded through NTNU’s allocation to this initiative.

Project: Interorganizational Collaboration in Search and Rescue Operations
The research project examines collaboration within the Norwegian search and rescue service. It aims to analyze how actors from different organizations coordinate their efforts and manage uncertainty during acute crisis management. The study seeks to identify factors that enable or constrain effective collaboration in operational contexts. Furthermore, it seeks to develop knowledge that can contribute to improved cooperation, enhanced operational robustness, and the continued professional development of the search and rescue service.

Project: War And Supply: The Role of Fats and Oils in British Policy during WWI
My project is an investigation of the natural resource policies of Great Britain regarding security of supply of fats and oils during the First World War. The main aims of the project are to map how global value chains were mobilized and utilized in connection with armed conflict, and how we can create robust and resilient supply chains for today and the future.

Project: Cross-sectorial collaboration for better preparedness: a converstion analytic study of debriefing after a mass casualty exercise
The aim of the project is to highlight interdisciplinary collaboration in planning and debriefing, and examine how cross-sectorial coordination may strengthen preparedness. The project will contribute to better understanding of how emergency preparedness exercises are evaluated in practice and of which communicative challenges the participants face when achieving the objectives of the exercise.

Research team: Dumped Munitions
Project: Beneath the Surface: The Historical Practice and Consequences of Norwegian Munitions Dumping, 1940-1970
This project will offer new insights about munitions dumping in Norwegian waters. Dumped munitions pose a significant health, environmental, and security threat, and this project will combine archival work with field studies including drones and sonar to help address this threat.
