Rana går rundt i leiligheten. Hun liker den. Hun går fra rom til rom, fra badet til stua og fra stua til kjøkkenet. Hun tar på stolene og bordet på kjøkkenet. Gjennom vinduet ser hun naboene, Hans og Anne Olsen. Hun vil gjerne snakke med dem. Men hva heter maq'ad på norsk? Hva heter tawila på norsk? Rana snakker arabisk og engelsk. På norsk kan hun si:

- Hei!

- Unnskyld, jeg forstår ikke.

- Jeg snakker ikke norsk.

- Hva betyr … ?

- Kan du gjenta?

- Snakker du engelsk?

- Snakker du arabisk?

- Ha det!

 

Det er alt. Hun må lære mer. Hun vil snakke med naboene. Hun må begynne på et norskkurs.

 

Hoda løper rundt i stua. Hun stopper og ser på mamma.

Hoda:   Kan vi besøke dem snart?

Rana:   Hvem tenker du på?

Hoda:         Naboene. Hans og Anne.

Rana:         Ikke ennå. Pappa må være med. Jeg snakker ikke norsk.

 

Hoda forstår. Men når skal hun få en venn?

At home

It's Tuesday afternoon. Cecilie and Alex are at home. Cecilie walks around in the apartment. She likes it.

It's large, with a hall, kitchen, bathroom, living room and three bedrooms. In the kitchen there is a workbench with a stove and a dishwasher. In the corner there is a refrigerator. There is also a dining table and six chairs. In the bathroom there are two sinks, a shower, and a washing machine.

The furniture in the living room is in place. There is a coffee table, a sofa and two armchairs, but they need to buy a TV. Alex is running around in the living room. He stops and looks at Mom.

Alex: Mom, can we go out on the balcony?

Cecilie: Yes, that's okay.

A: Where do Grandmother and Grandfather live?

C: Can you see the houses over there?

A: Yes.

C: There, that's where Grandmother and Grandfather live.

A: Can we visit them soon?

C: You can call Grandmother now and ask. Here is the phone.

A: Hi Grandmother! It is Alex. Can we visit you?

Granny wants to have a visit now. Alex jumps the stairs and runs to the car. It is in the garage. He is going to visit Grandmother and Grandfather.
